The story behind The Bridal Room
From a personal quest to a dream that became reality.
Behind every wedding dress is a story. However, the story of The Bridal Room did not begin with a shop or a large collection, but with one personal search for the perfect wedding dress.
In 2012, owner Amal went in search of her own wedding dress. Because of her Moroccan background, values, and standards, she was looking for a dress that was more modest, yet elegant, feminine, and imbued with the glamour and details she loved. That proved to be a challenge. The more modest dresses often lacked the glamour Amal was looking for, while dresses with beautiful details, lace, and beads were often too revealing. Ultimately, she chose a dress she loved, but her search stayed with her. After all, why should a bride have to choose between a dress that suits her and a dress she truly loves?
The Bridal Room was born from that thought. Together with her sister Ibtissam, Amal decided to create a place where brides with different styles, wishes, and backgrounds could go. The Bridal Room started small: in an attic room in their parental home, with 10 dresses, a website, and a big dream. The sisters built the business alongside their daily lives. Amal combined The Bridal Room with her work and focused mainly on the organization and everything behind the scenes. At the time, Ibtissam was still in school and became the face and point of contact for brides. She scheduled appointments around her classes and also played an important role in altering the dresses.
What started in an attic room grew into the bridal boutique that The Bridal Room is today. We now have more than 500 wedding dresses and two locations: one in Dordrecht and one in Antwerp. Although we have grown, one thing has always remained the same: every bride is different. And that is why we believe that every search for a wedding dress should be unique.
